There are lots of commercially available patterns for premature babies: the only important thing is that they are knitted in new wool/acrylic.
The Ray of Hope organisation has lots of patterns and Mother's Union
members knit many of them
Two simple things to do are an incubator blanket or a cot blanket.
INCUBATOR BLANKET
16" square in baby double knit wool. Size 9 needles. Cast on 90 stitiches and work in garter stitch until the required size is reached.
COT BLANKET
22" X 25" Baby double knit wool.
Use size 9 needles and cast on 120 stitiches. Work in garter stitch. Whne the required size is reached, cast off.
You can use a more complicated if you wish, as long as the size is the same.
